2Go rally 2004: 34th Heat 1 and
27th on Heat 2
First Rally with new car co-driver. 2 days event.
The
objectives of the rally were to learn the new car, give max experience to the
new co-Driver, Charles, and finish both Heat.
 | Finish the rally: Objective
completed. No major drama with car or driving. We managed to stay and the
road. |
 | Only the last SS was cancelled, so
we learnt the car quite well (almost 200Km competitive). Sunday, the rain
joined in, and it was my first experience on wet dirt. Very slippery on some
point but lots of fun. |
2Go rally 2003: 21st Outright (47
starting State Event)
Fourth Dirt Rally with a new co-driver. 2 days event.
The
objectives of the rally were to finish it and increase our pace.
 | Finish the rally: Objective
completed. We lost 4 min on SS2 after being stuck in a bank. On SS3, we hit
a bank, and pull back the left front wheel enough to touch a left guard and
damaging steering for all rally. We still managed to finish the rally after
some work on the car Sunday morning. |
 | We were 29th outright on SS1 out
of 55. After our damage on the car on SS3, we took it easy for the rest of
the rally to make it to the end and score some points in NSW Championship. |
Bay Stages 2003: 35 Outright (46
starting State Event)
Third Rally ever on dirt with the charade.
The
objectives of the rally were to finish it and increase our pace.
 | Finish the rally: Objective
completed but not as we would have expected. We lost 25min in the first
stage and so we knew from the start that will finish last |
 | Increase the pace: After our issue
on SS1 where we finished 81 and last (we took a wrong turn and got lost in
forest), we started SS2 not so motivated. We had a hot spin on this stage
and saw the trees from close: 73. We were between 57 and 65 for SS3 to SS7.
For the last two SS (state event), we finished 34 and 33. |

Bega 2003: 59 Outright (98 starting)
Second rally on dirt, State championship Level. Our main
objective was to finish our first rally on dirt and of course keep learning.
 |
Objective completed,
we made it to the end without any damage. I was worried through the rally
for the gearbox but it went ok. We were very happy of course. |
 |
We started a bit
slow (I haven't driven the car for about 2 months) on the first 2 SS but
then relaxing a bit more. Our pace still needs to improve but the gap with
other is getting closer comparing to the last rally. The shire roads are
very nice (and fast). It was worth the trip. |
 |
Still not a big fan
of tulip rallies. You have a big disadvantage when you are doing the rally
for the first time. |
 |
A big thanks to
Julius and his wife for the service crew. We wouldn't have gone very far
without them. |

Wauchope 2003: Gerabox SS8
First Rally ever on dirt, left-hand driving, without pace notes (tulip
based), and with the charade.
Lots of unknown, so we were not expecting some nice Stages time. The
objectives of the rally were to finish it, start to learn the car on dirt and
how to us tulip based rally.
 | Finish the rally: We
almost did it, the gearbox left us at the beginning of the last SS and we
had to retire. Of course, a little bit disappointed to finish so close. |
 |
Learn
the car on dirt: I can tell you that driving on dirt is different than on
tarmac. I started to relax a bit in the last two SS. |
 |
Tulip
Rally: This might be the most difficult to adjust at the end of the day. The
information included into tulip notes is very light and only warn you about
big danger. You can have no indication for several Km even if the road
contains lots of bends. Since you have never driven on the SS before, you
cannot drive as fast as with pace notes. |
